If you’re an experienced construction project management professional who enjoys bringing complex projects from concept to completion, this could be the opportunity for you.

As a one of WDFW’s primary electrical leads, you’ll lead projects that support the construction and maintenance of fish and wildlife infrastructure and facilities across Washington.

Your work will span a wide range of projects, primarily located at hatcheries, including but not limited to generators, marking trailers, programable logic controls (PLCs), pumps, mechanical systems, charging stations, and electrical safety improvements. These designs often involve multiple construction trades and stakeholders.

You’ll guide projects through every phase, developing scopes, schedules, permits, estimates, budgets, designs, and specifications while keeping projects on track and within budget. You’ll also coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, subcontractors, and internal partners to ensure project plans are successfully translated into high-quality completed work.

Beyond managing projects, you’ll provide leadership, mentorship, and serve as a department resource for electrical work. Your expertise will help deliver the infrastructure needed to support WDFW’s mission to conserve and protect Washington’s fish, wildlife, and their habitats.

Among the varied range of responsibilities held within this role, the Electrical Construction Project Lead will,

• Collaborate with stakeholders to define project objectives and scope.
• Prepare and manage project budgets, including forecasting costs and ensuring cost control throughout the project.
• Assemble technical team to identify the necessary project components, which may include purchasing, surveying, drafting, engineering, permitting, cultural, construction methods, and contracting.
• Solicit, hire, and manage any necessary external architecture or engineering support in accordance with agency processes and procedures, including leadership approvals.
• Develop the construction documents and coordinate the review process for construction approval.
• Ensure all necessary permits and approvals are obtained before project initiation and maintained throughout the project.
• Oversee public works and in-house projects to ensure that project scope aligns with expectations and that the projects adhere to the established schedule and budget.
• Direct and evaluate the work of public work contractors.
• Provide consistent and substantive communication with all stakeholders throughout the duration of all assigned projects.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules to ensure timely completion.
• Develop and manage contracts with contractors, subcontractors, and vendors in accordance with agency processes and procedures, including leadership approvals.

• Provide technical electrical expertise for the design, inspection, code compliance, cost estimation, and specification development for both Public Works and in-house electrical projects.
• Coordinate with utility districts, stakeholders, and other relevant parties regarding project activities.
• Deliver customer service by addressing questions and concerns related to building codes and electrical requirements.
