PBX Operator

Overview

The Switchboard Operator position answers hospital main lines, responds to customers, and processes calls efficiently. Responsibilities include public address paging, remote pager paging, radio paging, inputting physician messages, providing physician contact information, monitoring and responding to all hospital alarms and emergency procedures, and documenting and maintaining files of communications materials. The position contacts cath-lab on-call staff for emergency procedures, on-call bio medical, maintenance, spiritual care, and administration staff, and processes all calls and messages to SSIP physicians.

• Answer hospital main lines and respond to customers in an efficient and expedient manner.
• Perform public address paging, remote pager paging, and radio paging as required.
• Input physician messages and provide customers with physician contact information.
• Monitor and respond to all hospital/campus alarms and emergency procedures.
• Document and maintain files of all communications materials.
• Contact cath-lab on-call staff for emergency medical procedures.
• Contact on-call bio-med, maintenance, spiritual care, and administration staff as needed.
• Process all calls and messages to SSIP physicians.

• 2 years of Switchboard experience.
• Experience in a medical environment.
