Are you a transitioning service member or military spouse looking to gain meaningful civilian work experience with a company committed to putting health first?

The DoW Skill Bridge Internship and Military Spouse Fellowship Programs provide eligible participants with hands‑on training, and exposure to Humana's culture, teams, and priorities.

You will partner with your team to support members, projects, and meeting goals affecting outcomes. The professionals you work with at Humana will depend on the type of internship you select. They may include healthcare professionals, HR, and IT, to name a few. The objective is to support and facilitate care for members.

To be eligible, you must be a transitioning service member approved to participate in the DoW Skill Bridge, or a military spouse approved to participate in the Military Spouse Fellowship Program.

The DoW Senior Learning Design Professional Intern will use Humana's Centralized Medicaid training, and you will apply your training, and previously acquired skills to and education to perform within the learning delivery team. Work assignments are varied and frequently require interpretation and independent determination of the appropriate courses of action.

The DoW Skill Bridge Senior Learning Design Professional Intern uses instructional design, cognitive psychology, and adult learning theory to determine the appropriate solution to facilitate training courses for organization employees or external audiences.

The DoW Skill Bridge Senior Learning Design Professional Intern:
  • Plan, organize, and collaborate on developing training curriculum, materials, job performance aids and programs to meet specific training needs. Begin to influence department's strategy.
  • Analyze content, organize content, design solutions, and write facilitator guides, scripts, use case scenarios, performance support, mobile learning and process documents.
  • Analyze and identify main gaps through data and reporting functions to provide recommended remediation through learning and educational concepts to improve and mitigate risk.
  • Coordinate and facilitate all aspects of training programs for participants throughout the organization, including instructor‑led and virtual instructor‑led training. Know how to use system platform and collaborative tools to facilitate learning.
  • Analyze learning needs and partner with subject matter experts to provide input for course content.
  • Write learning goals and coordinate performance assessments to measure training effectiveness.
  • Ensure course materials are current and to training needs. Analyze the training programs effectiveness by examining learner's satisfaction levels, proficiency testing, and job performance improvement. Tie this in with critical compliance and quality measures.
  • Makes decisions on moderately complex to complex issues regarding technical approach for project components, and performs work without direction.
  • Exercise considerable latitude in determining objectives and approaches to lead collaboration and continuous improvement efforts with markets.

Required Qualifications
  • Transitioning Service Member eligible to participate in the DoW Skill Bridge, or Military Spouse eligible to participate in the Military Spouse Fellowship Career Accelerator Program
  • Associate's degree in any field
  • Minimum one (1) year of training or learning development/facilitation experience
  • The employer requires one year of administrative experience. This experience should involve working with documentation, including the creation and editing of materials. These materials may be used for various purposes, such as training, SOP (Standard Operating Procedure), process flows, and/or job aids.
  • Experience using data analytics reporting
  • Experience with learning strategies and adult learning theories
  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in all office products
