Job Purpose Statement

The job of "Teacher - High School" is done for the purpose/s of developing students’ academic skills through academic courses of study and implementing District approved curriculum; documenting teaching and student progress/activities/outcomes; addressing specific educational needs of students; providing a safe and optimal learning environment, and providing feedback to students, parents and administration regarding student progress, expectations, goals, etc.

Position Details

This is a 0.2 FTE continuing position beginning employment in the  school year.

This position works 6th period Monday – Friday based on the OHS Bell Schedule and teaches Introduction to Guitar.

Employees will receive vacation leave, paid holidays, and additional compensation beyond their base salary as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Essential Job Functions
  • Advises parents and/or legal guardians of student progress to support teacher's expectations, develop improvement methods, and reinforce classroom goals at home.
  • Assesses students and provides feedback to students, parents, and administration regarding progress, expectations, goals, etc.
  • Assists other teachers in implementing curriculum.
  • Collaborates with school personnel, parents, and community agencies to improve student outcomes, develop solutions, and plan curriculum.
  • Demonstrates methods required to perform assignments and/or skills for the purpose of providing students with necessary skills to perform tasks safely and accurately.
  • Directs instructional assistants, volunteers, and/or student aides to provide an effective program and address individual students' needs.
  • Instructs students to improve academic success through a defined course of study.
  • Monitors student activities (e.g. classroom, lunch, grounds) to provide a safe, optimal learning environment.
  • Prepares teaching materials and reports (grades, attendance, anecdotal records) to implement lesson plans and document progress.
  • Reports incidents (e.g. fights, suspected child abuse, substance abuse) to maintain safety, a positive learning environment, and policy compliance.
Other Job Functions
  • Assists other personnel as needed to support their work activities.
  • Participates in meetings (parent conferences, in-service training, site meetings) to receive and provide information and meet credential requirements.
  • Contributes to a climate that is sensitive to diverse socioeconomic groups.
  • Plans, organizes, and implements flexible classroom and leadership curriculum in a community-based environment.
  • Promotes and models high expectations, performance, respect, and dignity for all students.
  • Integrates technologies such as grading software through professional development.
  • Works cooperatively, energetically, and productively within a CTE Department, fostering parental involvement.
  • Leads and/or participates in CTE Advisory Board meetings and local Tech Prep meetings.
  • Is an energetic, motivated, positive individual focused on CTE Communication Technology Program to prepare students with employable skills.
Qualifications
  • Experience:

    Prior job-related experience.
  • Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
    Motivating students, communicating with diverse backgrounds, supporting personnel, evaluating performance; age-appropriate teaching methods, state curriculum framework, education code, curricular subjects; ability to stand/walk for prolonged periods, perform tasks, maintain records, cooperate with students, parents, and school personnel; meet schedules and deadlines; physical abilities: lifting/carrying, reaching/handling, talking/hearing, visual acuity and depth perception, field of vision.
  • Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, Testing:
    Teaching Credential at appropriate level and/or subjects;
    Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance.
