$54,204 -$72,900 annually

The Washington State Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) seeks to fill a Fiscal Analyst 2 (in-training option). This full-time permanent position is based in Olympia, Washington. This position will be required to be in office 5 days per week. We encourage interested candidates to visit the OSPI website to gain insight into our agency.

Position Overview
This position reports to the General Accounting Manager and is responsible for exercising independent judgement in determining the appropriate application of rules and regulations (RCW, WAC, SAAM) in the following areas: interfacing with multiple systems; general accounting and customer service, program development and payment processing.
Key Responsibilities
Payment& Deposit Processing
Tasks include:
* Create and process payment batches
* Confirm payment requests and deposit amounts are accurate
* Investigate and respond to questions from teams, partners, and vendors
Provides General Accounting Support and Customer Service
Tasks include:
* Respond to customer inquiries
* Provides backup to accounting staff
* Communicate professionally and produce high-quality work
* Miscellaneous - Other duties as assigned
Process Improvement
Tasks include:
* Assist Fiscal staff with implementing new financial tools
* Support the development and implementation of organization-wide program improvements
Required Qualifications (to qualify for the Fiscal Analyst 2 level):
* Bachelor's degree (may substitute for education on a year for year basis except for the accounting credits)
* At least 12 semester or 18 quarter hours of college-level accounting; credits can include classes such as math, statistics, and/or any other analytical math or science class (to be vetted by HR)
* One year of experience in financial administration, such as administering accounts payable or accounts receivable
