Special Education Teacher, Special Needs / Learning Disabilities
Step into an impactful role as a Special Education Teacher specializing in Math, supporting middle school students in a collaborative and resource-rich educational setting. This contract opportunity begins in early September and runs through early June, offering a dynamic environment where your expertise fosters growth for learners with mild to moderate disabilities.
In this role, you'll work approximately 37.5 hours each week alongside dedicated educators and support teams. You will play a vital part in developing, adapting, and delivering instruction to help students succeed academically and socially.
Qualifications and Credentials:
- Valid Washington State Special Education (SPED) teaching certification
- Educational Staff Associate (ESA) credential required
- Experience working with students with mild to moderate disabilities preferred
- Strong background in Math education at the middle school level
- Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills
- Dedication to IEP implementation and progress monitoring
Responsibilities Include:
- Plan, deliver, and adapt Math instruction within a resource setting
- Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Assess student abilities and track their progress regularly
- Collaborate with general education teachers, paraprofessionals, and families
- Provide support and accommodations tailored to each student's needs
- Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with district and state requirements
- Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment where all students can thrive
