Senior Product Development Engineer

Weyerhaeuser seeks a Senior New Product Development Engineer to drive innovation in sustainable wood products. In this role, you will lead new product development from concept through commercialization, translating customer and market needs into manufacturable, cost-effective solutions. You will design and execute lab and mill trials, analyze performance data, and collaborate closely with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, sales, and marketing to launch new products safely and reliably.

You will help uphold Weyerhaeuser's commitment to safety, integrity, and environmental stewardship while mentoring peers and contributing to continuous improvement and IP generation.

Responsibilities

• Lead new wood product development from concept through launch for residential, commercial, and industrial markets
• Translate customer, market, and sustainability requirements into product specifications and performance criteria
• Plan and execute lab and mill trials, testing, and qualification to validate designs and processes
• Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, supply chain, sales, and marketing to ensure scalable commercialization
• Apply structured problem solving and data analysis to optimize product performance, cost, and reliability
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and industry standards across development activities
• Prepare technical reports, documentation, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders
• Support IP generation, including patentable concepts and protection of proprietary technologies
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of innovation, safety, and continuous improvement
