Position and SalaryThe Attorney General’s Office is recruiting for a permanent full‑time Fiscal Analyst 4 in the Financial Services Division. This position is located in Olympia, Washington and is not union‑represented.

there is the possibility of an in‑training from the Fiscal Analyst 3 level.
Fiscal Analyst 4 Salary Range (57): $64,776 - $87,048 annually (Effective 7/1/2025) | $66,072 - $88,788 (Effective 7/1/2026)
Fiscal Analyst 3 Salary Range (55): $61,644 - $82,872 annually (Effective 7/1/2025) | $62,880 - $84,528 (Effective 7/1/2026)
The base pay offered will take into account internal equity and may vary depending on the preferred candidate’s job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience.
The following stipends may apply based on position requirements:
- Incumbents assigned to our Seattle office location receive an additional 5% King County Location Pay stipend.
- Incumbents assigned to a position designated as requiring dual language skills will receive a 5% Dual Language Requirement Pay stipend.
This senior‑level position is part of a team responsible for various accounting functions, which include analyzing, interpreting and ensuring proper posting of financial transactions. The role is assigned to assist with agency‑wide financial processing and reconciliation, performing financial review and analysis of fiscal data in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, governmental auditing standards, and state regulations.
Important tasks and activities performed include:
- Accounts Receivables/Payables: develop, coordinate and maintain an automated system for the Attorney General’s Office, record, reconcile and report revenue and receivables for each client agency, create spreadsheets for financial reconciliations, tracking and reporting.
- Grants: monitor, review and audit federal expenditures to ensure grant compliance, coordinate fiscal procedures with budget and grant and contract specialists, perform complex analysis to ensure grant expenditures are recorded properly in the accounting system, oversee electronic fund transfers for the transmission of revenues from the federal government, reconcile expenditures and revenue matching state and federal funding, prepare and file federal reports.
- Reporting: prepare financial reports for management, review and monitor charges associated.
- Leadership: serve as a lead over general accounting staff and principal assistant to a General Accounting Manager, lead Fiscal Analysts in monitoring cash management transactions, audit cash management documentation, inform staff of necessary adjustments to ensure data integrity, develop fiscal professional staff in financial processes and procedures in compliance with accounts receivables and cash management regulations.
- Cash Management: lead fiscal analysts to process cash receipts with cash disbursement to determine appropriate agency program recoveries, monitor, audit, reconcile account activity, conduct daily audits of transactions and cash management activity, monitor and reconcile Quick Books accounts activity, ensure proper recording of transactions in AFRS.
To qualify at the Management Fiscal Analyst 3 level:
- Bachelor’s degree with 18 quarter or 12 semester hours in accounting, auditing, or budgeting, and two years of relevant professional experience. Professional experience may substitute for education but does not usually replace the required credit hours.
- A Master’s degree in a financial related field, certification as a Public Accountant, Internal Auditor, Certified Governmental Financial Manager or Management Accountant can substitute for professional experience.
