About The Position

The Washington State Office of the Insurance Commissioner (OIC) is seeking an Associate Financial Analyst (FE2) to join our Financial Analysis Team in the Company Supervision Division. If you're a detail-oriented financial professional who enjoys analytical work and solving complex problems, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact while helping protect consumers and support a healthy insurance marketplace.

In this role, you'll analyze the financial condition of insurance companies and other regulated entities doing business in Washington, assess financial risks and regulatory compliance, identify emerging trends, and help ensure organizations remain financially able to meet their obligations to consumers. You'll collaborate with experienced analysts and regulators, gain expertise in insurance financial regulation, and contribute to decisions that safeguard the public interest.

This is a Washington General Service position. The monthly salary range for this position is $5,928 - $7,973. This is a Non-Permanent position with a duration of 6 months from start date.

Duties
  • Analyze the financial condition of insurance companies and other regulated entities to identify financial risks, trends, and regulatory compliance issues.
  • Review financial statements, regulatory filings, and supporting documentation to assess organizational solvency and ability to meet obligations to consumers.
  • Prepare written financial analyses, risk assessments, and recommendations that support regulatory oversight and decision-making.
  • Monitor assigned insurers and regulated entities, identifying emerging concerns and recommending appropriate supervisory or enforcement actions.
  • Communicate findings and collaborate with internal staff, legal counsel, and state and national insurance regulators to support coordinated oversight activities.
  • Review annual reports for Charitable Gift Annuity issuers and other regulated entities to ensure compliance with Washington laws and regulations.
  • Maintain accurate case files, analysis documentation, and regulatory records using agency databases and audit software.
  • Stay current on insurance regulations, financial analysis standards, and industry trends through ongoing training and professional development.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Six (6) years
