    Description

    Under general supervision, incumbents in this classification work independently to provide a variety of specialized legal, technical, and administrative support services in the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office. Depending on the specific assignment, incumbents must research crime and suspect information; process a variety of records, logs, court documents and other paperwork; perform records management and public disclosure functions in a law‑enforcement setting;

    perform background investigations on public visitors, contract employees and volunteers; enter, validate, and correct information in various computer systems.

    Qualifications:
    • At least 18 years of age at time of appointment.
    • Pursuant to RCW 41.14.100, must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) recipient and be able to speak, read, and write the English language.
    • High school diploma or GED.
    • One year of college coursework and two years of work experience in a legal, law‑enforcement, or administrative support field. Experience may substitute for education, and education may substitute for experience on a year‑for‑year basis.
    • Acceptable scores on Civil Service skills examinations, including a typing test.
    • Successfully pass a background investigation which may include a polygraph and/or psychological examination.
