Job Description: The primary duties of this position are to address legislation activities and to assess the impact of government agency administrative policy decisions, as well as keep Company personnel apprised of, or provide interpretation of, legislation and administrative rules impacting Company operations and its customers. Performance of these duties may entail assisting Company management and personnel in the performance of their duties that may or may not be impacted by legislation or administrative policy decisions.
Duties & Responsibilities- Provides awareness, advice and counsel on governmental, legislative, and regulatory matters that may have an impact on customers and the Company.
- Identifies and manages key issues impacting the Company; plans and directs Company activities or programs involving those issues.
- Engages the Company with various state organizations, including the executive and legislative branches of state government, and industry associations.
- Maintains contact and close working relationships with elected and appointed officials at the state level, in order to stay apprised of issues affecting the Company.
- Assists company personnel on the interpretation of legislation and administrative rules; also provides support in response to administrative actions and the preparation of documents in response to a regulatory inquiry or mandate.
- Research and other forms of assistance provided in support of company personnel in response to administrative actions.
- Prepares and delivers presentations to internal and external stakeholders explaining public policies and their implications through newsletters, articles and weekly reports in order to assist the management of the costs of operating the company.
- Facilitates company involvement in electoral politics.
- Bachelor’s degree in related field required.
- Master’s degree in business, political science, law or related preferred.
- Requires a minimum of five years legislative experience, with at least two as a Lobbyist.
- Effective & flexible communication skills, both oral and written, are essential to this position.
- Demonstrated working knowledge and understanding of local, state, and federal legislative issues and processes required.
- Position regular requires travel to/from Olympia and Spokane.
- Other combinations of education and experience may be considered.
$130,190 to $171,852
