Assistant Corrections Ombuds – Vulnerable Population Monitoring (Internal Only

The Assistant Corrections Ombuds – Vulnerable Population Monitoring role monitors healthcare concerns affecting vulnerable populations in Washington's prisons, investigates complaints, and identifies service gaps to improve healthcare delivery and outcomes. The position manages caseloads of investigations, responds to hotline intake, conducts systemic analysis, and serves as the agency's Equity Officer within the Office of the Corrections Ombuds, an independent agency in the Governor's Office.

• Demonstrated knowledge of correctional systems, investigative processes, or oversight functions with ability to interpret and apply applicable laws and regulations
• Experience performing objective investigations by gathering, analyzing, and evaluating evidence and preparing well-supported findings
• Advanced skill in building collaborative relationships and communicating effectively with diverse stakeholders including incarcerated individuals, family members, and agency staff
• Ability to analyze complex information, exercise sound judgment, and manage multiple project assignments independently while meeting deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 and business technology tools to prepare reports and maintain case documentation
• Ability to interact professionally with individuals experiencing crisis, trauma, or emotional distress using de-escalation techniques
