Regional Guardianship Consultant
Are you passionate about strengthening Washington's courts?
The Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) invites mission-driven professionals to join our Guardianship Monitoring Support Initiative as a Regional Guardianship Consultant (RGC). This position operates at a professional level, requires minimal supervision, and relies on independent judgment within a defined area of expertise.
The RGC serves as the regional liaison and primary consultant for assigned superior courts, providing guidance, operational support, and subject matter expertise across all aspects of adult guardianship. In partnership with court leaders and staff, the consultant helps identify needs, solve problems, implement program recommendations, and navigate complex guardianship processes.
The RGC also contributes to program development and ongoing program management by assessing regional trends, supporting implementation of statewide standards, contributing to resource and tool creation, and assisting in monitoring program performance. This role supports continuous improvement efforts to strengthen consistency, quality, and accessibility of guardianship practices statewide.
In addition, the RGC demonstrates strong leadership qualities, including initiative, sound judgment, effective communication, and the ability to influence positive change across diverse environments. By building collaborative relationships and guiding courts without direct authority, the consultant fosters trust, promotes best practices, and helps courts develop sustainable local capacity. The role also involves navigating differing communication styles, varying levels of engagement, and moments of resistance with professionalism and tact, ensuring progress continues even when perspectives or priorities differ.
The RGC also exhibits strategic leadership by using data-informed insights, long-term planning, and proactive problem-solving to strengthen guardianship operations across multiple counties. The consultant leads through influence by cultivating partnerships, aligning local efforts with statewide priorities, and guiding courts through change with clarity and confidence. This strategic approach ensures emerging needs are anticipated, priorities are coordinated, and courts receive expert support to improve both daily processes and long-term outcomes.
This role offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact across multiple counties by enhancing guardianship practices, elevating statewide consistency, and helping judges and court staff better serve Washington's communities.
