Duties

The DFS – West serves as a member of the FHWA Leadership Team and participates in the development of national policies and strategic plans to assure the accomplishment of the agency mission, vision, and strategic goals. The DFS – West also:

• Establishes intermodal and interagency partnerships to promote a collaborative process and coordination for decision making.
• Serves as primary contact in designing new initiatives for nationwide application that will have broad national impact upon the agency and the Nation's transportation systems.
• Provides direction to assigned division offices and facilitates the resolution of problems through strategic thinking, development of options, and with technology implementation bringing in Headquarters offices as appropriate.
• Provides leadership in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of innovative models which advance the state-of-the-art technology from a national and/or international perspective.
