Phlebotomist - per diem

Description

Phlebotomist is responsible for clinical laboratory duties, including:

• Reception and telephone duties and proficient operation of laboratory equipment including HIS/LIS systems
• Specimen handling: receiving and processing; prep and shipping of lab specimens for at Reference Laboratories
• Specimen/patient registration
• Phlebotomy – collection of blood samples by venipuncture or capillary stick
• Therapeutic blood collection
• Swab collection of specific microbiology samples (per competency)
• Assignment to OP Lab locations
• Training new staff as assigned

If assigned to a site where offered:
Dispatch functions, EKG performance, collection of DOT and non-DOT drug screens for cause drug screens (HR), and Breath Alcohol Testing (BAT); clinic relief fill-in

Respectful and patient communications (written and verbal) with patients, clients, other lab staff, and caregivers from other departments.

• Washington Medical Assistant Phlebotomist Certification upon hire
• Six (6) months direct experience as a phlebotomist and/or completion of a Phlebotomy program

• Coursework/Training:
  Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy training program/course approved by WA State

Posted are the minimum and maximum wage rates for this position. The successful candidate’s placement on the wage range will be determined based on relevant experience and other factors. This is the base pay range; additional compensation may include shift differentials, standby/on-call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
