A Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) at our facility provides direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist, assisting patients in rehabilitation and helping them achieve functional goals.

Key Responsibilities

PTAs work closely with Physical Therapists to deliver high-quality musculoskeletal care. Their primary duties include:

  • Assisting patients with exercises, stretches, and therapeutic activities to improve mobility, strength, and function.
  • Using devices such as walkers or braces to support patient movement and reduce pain.
  • Observing and documenting patient progress, reporting findings to the supervising Physical Therapist.
  • Educating patients and families on home exercise programs, wellness strategies, and post-treatment care.
  • Preparing and maintaining therapy equipment and treatment areas, ensuring cleanliness and safety.
  • Supporting patient transfers and mobility within the clinic or rehabilitation environment.
  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
Work Environment

PTAs typically work in outpatient clinics, sports medicine facilities, or rehabilitation centers. They may interact with a diverse patient population, including athletes, seniors, and individuals recovering from orthopedic, neurologic, or medical conditions. The role requires a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with a focus on patient-centered care.

Qualifications
  • Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program.
  • Current licensure or eligibility for licensure as a PTA in the state of employment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with patients, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize responsibilities, and work collaboratively in a clinical setting.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to health and safety regulations.
