we are currently seeking a qualified payroll specialist to join the team in a remote role, based in the est or cst time zones. This role is responsible for payroll processing and providing support for audits, compliance, and reports.
duties and responsibilities- process payroll for hourly and salary employees, including calculating salary, deductions, bonuses, and benefits
- maintain accurate payroll records, including attendance, leaves, and compensation changes
- coordinate with hr, finance, and other departments to gather payroll data, such as new hires, terminations, promotions, and salary changes
- review and verify payroll inputs, including timesheets, bonuses, commissions, taxes, and deductions, to ensure accuracy and compliance with local tax laws and regulations
- verify tax and wage orders payments processed through third‑party provider
- audit the hours imported from time and attendance system and prepare adjustments for time adjustments for payroll processing
- audit payroll inputs and complete variance audit for payroll approvals prior to payroll completion
- address and resolve employee inquiries related to payroll and deductions issues professionally and promptly
- generate payroll reports for management, audits, and statutory filings
- stay updated on changes in payroll regulations and implement necessary process changes
- assist in payroll audits, compliance checks, reports, and system upgrades
- maintain payroll records, documentation, and confidentiality of employee information in compliance with data protection laws and company policies
- minimum 8+ years of experience in payroll processing; global payroll experience is a plus
- proficient in payroll and hcm software and systems, workday preferred
- solid understanding of federal and state payroll laws, tax laws, and compliance regulations
- excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work with large volumes of data accurately
- strong communication, interpersonal, and problem‑solving skills
- strong excel skills
the rate for this position is between $22.80 - $33.44 per hour. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
