The Human Resource Division (HRD) provides support to the entire agency through consulting, researching, and interpreting civil service rules, Collective Bargaining Agreements, and agency policies and procedures. In addition to processing and maintaining employee health and safety, recruiting, testing, hiring, transfers, and promotional actions for all civil service and commissioned personnel. As the agency’s senior EEO/HR Investigator, your work will influence employment decisions, strengthen organizational culture, and help ensure every employee is treated with fairness, dignity, and respect.
In this role, you will serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership, managers, and HR professionals while helping foster a respectful, legally compliant workplace for one of Washington’s premier law enforcement agencies. This position independently leads highly sensitive workplace investigations, provides strategic HR consultation, interprets complex employment laws and policies, and develops recommendations that influence agency-wide employment practices.
Every investigation, consultation, and recommendation contributes to maintaining the integrity, professionalism, and accountability expected of the Washington State Patrol.

Primary Responsibilities Lead Complex Workplace Investigations- Independently conduct complex, trauma-informed investigations involving allegations of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, hostile work environment, and other protected class concerns.
- Interview complainants, respondents, and witnesses; collect and evaluate evidence; assess credibility; and apply federal and state laws, agency policy, and collective bargaining agreements.
- Prepare comprehensive investigative reports with findings of fact and well-supported recommendations for agency leadership.
- Advise executives, managers, and HR staff on employee relations, performance management, workplace conflict, accommodations, and other complex employment matters.
- Partner with leadership to resolve challenging employee issues while balancing organizational needs, legal requirements, and employee rights.
- Provide consultation throughout complaint resolution and accommodation processes.
- Interpret and apply federal and state employment laws, civil service rules, collective bargaining agreements, and agency policy.
- Evaluate reasonable accommodation requests and essential job functions while ensuring consistent, legally compliant decision-making.
- Maintain confidential investigative records and prepare documentation for agency leadership and regulatory bodies.
- Develop and deliver training on respectful workplaces, harassment prevention, reasonable accommodations, investigations, and HR compliance.
- Recommend process improvements and best practices that strengthen workplace culture, accountability, and organizational effectiveness.
