Our physical office is in Olympia, WA. We offer flexible schedules and locations. This is a hybrid position where most of the work allows teleworking. However, you must reside in Washington and travel to in-person activities and meetings as needed for business purposes.
We are seeking a Senior Applications Developer who thrives on solving complex technical challenges and building systems that connect people, data, and technology across government. You will engineeri, design, implement, and manage enterprise integration solutions that support statewide systems and cross‑agency initiatives. You will serve as a key technical leader and subject‑matter expert for OFM, partner with technical teams across state agencies, develop integration strategies, and establish standards and best practices for reliable, sustainable solutions.
- Design and build application and near‑real‑time data integration solutions for state enterprise mission‑critical applications such as AFRS, HRMS, and data warehouses.
- Develop code and integration workflows using Informatica Power Center, MQ, and related platforms.
- Create scripts in MS Batch, Python, and VBScript to orchestrate data and application integration solutions.
- Write and maintain code for web services (SOAP and REST) and APIs, utilizing XML, WSDLs, XSDs, and JSON.
- Consume web services and APIs from vendors/SAAS solutions for enterprise data integration.
- Translate application requirements into functioning code and design integration architecture.
- Use SSIS, IBM Web Sphere MQ, Informatica Data Integration Hub, Power Exchange, and other technologies as appropriate.
- Use SQL to develop and modify database objects that support integration solutions, including tables, constraints, and stored procedures.
- Build WSDL documents to define request and response of web services.
- Maintain and support agency’s enterprise integration solutions.
- Conduct code and quality assurance reviews for new and enhanced integration solutions.
- Perform real‑time root‑cause analysis for production issues using SQL, database systems, data integration, web services, SAP, and VSAM (mainframe).
- Monitor production data exchanges and ensure timely delivery of data, files, and messages.
- Analyze and resolve complex integration problems.
- Determine and recommend design for integration solutions.
- Research and explore innovative options to establish integration standards, templates, and processes.
- Advanced knowledge of enterprise integration architecture, middleware, ETL/ELT processes, APIs, messaging systems, and enterprise data flows.
- Experience designing integrations for mission‑critical enterprise systems in large organizations or government environments.
- Advanced experience with SQL, Python, REST/SOAP web services, Informatica Power Center/DIH/IICS, SSIS, IBM MQ, Power Shell, or other scripting languages; database programming; source control/release management.
- Advanced troubleshooting and root‑cause analysis experience with distributed systems, databases, middleware, APIs, and transaction processing; experience supporting high‑availability systems.
- Advanced experience performing systems analysis, requirements translation, technical consultation, impact analysis, and solution evaluation in large enterprise environments; ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Experience with software development lifecycle methodologies, change management, deployment coordination, code reviews, integration standards, documentation practices, operational monitoring, and process improvement initiatives.
- Demonstrated leadership in enterprise technology initiatives, mentoring or guiding technical teams, influencing architectural decisions, collaborating across agencies, vendors, and stakeholders; strong interpersonal, facilitation, and relationship‑building skills.
- Ability to learn and grow.
- Ability to meet the needs of others.
- Experience engineering complex data and application integration solutions for enterprise systems.
- Experience in enterprise systems, integration technologies, and methods.
