Role OverviewThe Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (WSLCB) Information Technology Services Division is hiring an IT System Administrator – Entry level to support the administration, maintenance, monitoring, and operational support of agency mission‑critical applications and enterprise platforms. The position reports to the IT Dev Ops Supervisor and is part of the Operational Support Dev Ops Team.
The incumbent works in a collaborative environment that includes application support, operational maintenance, automation, and system administration services across SaaS, COTS, database, and custom‑developed application environments.
The role is responsible for application maintenance and support for agency‑critical applications, providing technical assistance to external users and managing account permissions. Work may be urgent and critical, requiring execution outside scheduled hours to restore systems.
Key application services include Content Management, Cannabis Inventory Reporting, Workflows, Web Content, Data Reporting, and Business Intelligence tools.
Responsibilities- Account creation and maintenance for Cannabis Central Reporting System, Tax and Fee reporting, Content Management, Workflow and data services.
- Administration, maintenance and support of associated SaaS and COTS solutions using administration and configuration toolsets.
- Coordinate and schedule system updates and upgrades with solution providers.
- Work with vendors and third‑party system integrators to resolve complex system problems.
- Collaborate with product management, system analysts, and business analysts in user story refinement.
- Use Azure Dev Ops to manage tasks and estimate work.
- Document problem‑solving processes, including decisions and actions taken to final resolution.
- Communicate application problems and issues to key stakeholders including leadership, product management, development teams, end users and other interested parties.
- Create knowledge base articles to assist in problem resolution.
- Manage and respond to service requests and incidents assigned in the Agency’s ITSM system.
- Continuously increase knowledge and skills related to technologies and systems.
- Experience with administering Microsoft‑stack custom developed applications, logging, and event triggers.
- Experience with SaaS and COTS multi‑tier enterprise‑wide applications.
- Clear communication with technical and non‑technical audiences; professional and courteous interpersonal skills.
- Experience as a business intelligence application administrator managing data sources and environments.
- Proficiency in information technology system maintenance, troubleshooting and problem resolution for computer systems and databases.
- Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server administration, T‑SQL query development, stored procedures, database troubleshooting, and operational data support.
- Basic experience with scripting and automation technologies including Power Shell, Python, or Windows batch scripting.
- Advanced technical knowledge configuring and maintaining SaaS and COTS solutions.
- Experience with Active Directory focusing on user and group permissions.
- Applied experience designing user interfaces and hosting Drupal site collections on Pantheon for external agency communication.
- Knowledge of enterprise infrastructure environments including Windows Server administration, cloud environment administration, system services, scheduled tasks, storage management, and application hosting support.
