About the Gig

At Google, data drives all of our direction, and our HR organization is no exception. The People Analytics Team operates as an internal research lab using scientific methods to help keep Google an extraordinary place to work. The unit provides core support to the business around people‑wellbeing initiatives and is responsible for leading the pulse of our people, leveraging data to drive improvement.

As a data scientist you will be thorough and principled, insightful and inquisitive. You will be a blend of quantitative and qualitative problem‑solving to get results. Above all, you are someone who ponders "What if?" and then seeks the answer.

People Analytics is known internally and externally for ensuring data and research illuminate every decision. Inside People Analytics, the Business Intelligence group plays the role of Data Curators, ensuring people data is accessible, actionable, trustworthy, and secure. We design and maintain Google’s HR data warehouse, dashboards, and reports used by a large number of internal clients across all levels of the organization with an eye toward scalability and code quality.

We transform data to meet business needs and empower the data ecosystem and experiments to enable data‑driven HR.

Excelling isn’t enough for our Talent Acquisition team (referred to elsewhere as "HR"). We bring the world’s most innovative people to research and deliver projects that help them thrive. Whether selecting the next Googler, refining our center programs, building capabilities, or simply finding ways to add more meaning to Googler lives, we bring a data‑driven approach that reimagines the HR field.

You will play a core role driving a more diverse, open, fair, and inclusive Google through our hiring, development, retention, and integration processes.

Obligations
  • Build and maintain internal data pipelines and dashboards for Talent Acquisition, including analysis, modeling, and access controls.
  • Create advanced SQL queries, data models, and lead project plans.
  • Design new analyses and cycles to uncover complex metrics and business requirements that enable fast and accurate data insights.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to define needs, pitch solutions, and test deliverables.
  • Provide client support and documentation in the team’s data product portfolio.
  • Deliver on‑demand data and analysis for requests that fall outside standard dashboards or standard analytics.
  • Work with experts and specialists to shape and drive the evolution of Google’s internal information architecture, including warehousing, transformation, and analytics stages.
  • Contribute to the improvement of the BI team’s processes, tools, culture, and impact.
