About the Agency & Division

The Washington State Patrol (WSP) supports diversity, equity, and inclusion and is an equal opportunity employer. The Information Technology Division (ITD) leverages technology to enhance public safety, infrastructure, and state‑wide emergency communications.

Responsibilities

A System Administrator – Senior is accountable for maintaining and enhancing IT infrastructure across multiple data centers and fourteen offices statewide.

Responsibilities include:

  • Install, configure, and maintain enterprise hardware, cloud, and virtual machine systems.
  • Provision and support core server infrastructure, including Hyper‑V, Hyper‑converged clusters, and Windows Server.
  • Administer the agency’s secure file transfer (Globalscape EFT), computer imaging activities, Azure Cloud resources, and in‑car digital video systems.
  • Perform system patching, upgrading, configuration, and change management.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and application issues, serving as the highest level of customer support escalation.
  • Maintain Windows installation images, conduct hardware imaging, and document configuration changes.
  • Plan and support capacity, threat, and health assessments; implement enhancements and corrective actions.
  • Provision remote locations with system hardware and equipment for WSP employees.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or related IT field; military or DOD IT experience may substitute for education.
  • 4–5 years’ senior level experience with 24×7 critical systems (total of 12–15 years of experience).
  • Proficiency with Windows Server 2019+, Windows Hyper‑V, Hyper‑converged clusters, Windows 11+, IP networking (routing, switching, protocols), Power Shell, Windows Admin Console, and Microsoft System Center suite.

Employment Conditions

Candidates must be willing to work on site and commute to Washington State Patrol offices. A hybrid work schedule may be considered after the training and/or probationary period.
