South Puget Sound Habitat for Humanity is an affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International focused on providing affordable housing solutions in Thurston and Lewis counties. Our work includes building new, energy-efficient homes, preparing households for home ownership, guaranteeing affordable mortgages to home buyers, performing critical housing repairs, and running two successful resale stores.

It is an exciting time at South Puget Sound Habitat as our immediate goals for the future include three new developments and hundreds of repair projects, drastically outpacing our past production - and we are working to scale our operations to meet these goals.

POSITION SUMMARY

The finance and administration director is responsible for the financial health, human resources, and organizational integrity of South Puget Sound Habitat. Working closely with the CEO and leadership team, the director provides financial strategy and direction, oversees budgeting and forecasting, and ensures strong financial controls, reporting, and compliance. The director leads the organization’s human resources function, supports a strong and well-run workplace, and oversees key areas of organizational policy, risk, and third-party requirements.

They also supervise staff responsible for accounting and regulatory obligations and help ensure the organization has the systems, information, and resources needed to make sound decisions. South Puget Sound Habitat’s complex business structure includes construction expenses, grant compliance and billing, a mortgage portfolio, home sales, retail store operations, and general nonprofit operations. This role plays a central part in building the financial and organizational capacity needed to manage that complexity and support sustainable growth.

There is opportunity to make this role into a senior director role, depending on qualifications.

RESPONSIBILITIES Key Responsibility:
Financial Oversight and Budget Management (45%)

The director is responsible for the overall financial health and strategic financial management of the organization. Responsibilities generally include:

Working with the CEO, set an ongoing short- and long-term financial strategy for the organization by evaluating past performance by area, exploring alternate or additional approaches, and building financial models. Create procedures for financial internal controls; ensure broad organizational adherence. Develop accurate, clear budgets, with input from appropriate stakeholders, for a broad range of organizational purposes (annual budget, proformas, grants, loans, reporting, etc.).

Create cashflow forecasting tools; manage rolling forecasting with assistance from relevant team members; recommend and enact course changes as needed.
