Division Overview

Crown’s Beverage Division manufactures packaging solutions for soft drinks, craft beers, coffees and teas, and new energy drinks. Crown Beverage leads the packaging industry with innovative technologies that redefine how the world views beverage cans. Our aluminum cans provide a large printable surface area with a wide range of sizes, shapes, and decorating options. Here at the Olympia Plant, we currently manufacture 12 oz.

Location

Here at the Olympia Plant, we currently manufacture 12 oz. beverage cans. We are expanding to manufacture other size cans for top consumer product companies. We are adding to our world-class team to operate this facility and are looking for a Quality Control Assurance Technician (Plant Inspector).

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Managing and maintaining standards and evaluating can samples
  • Analyze and interpret trends, charts, dates and conditions as noted and recorded by Can Technicians and Department Inspectors
  • Visually or with gauges, conduct random sample inspections of in-process or finished products
  • Perform planned audits, and follow up on complaints to ensure company quality control standards are maintained
  • Provide relief coverage requiring familiarity with and competency in performing all of the requirements of other Quality Inspector positions
  • Frequent data entry into select company databases, including AS400 and basic spreadsheets such as Excel
  • Demonstrate good verbal and written communication skills when interacting with inspectors, plant employees, supervisors, and management to communicate information related to quality issues
  • Ensure company and customer standard requirements are met, demonstrating attention to detail in inspections or audits to support effective corrective actions
Job Requirements
  • Must be a minimum of 18 years old
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Minimum 6 months’ work experience in Quality Control/Assurance in a manufacturing company is highly desirable
  • Prior computer experience is required
  • Recent Excel spreadsheet experience is preferred
  • Must possess basic math skills
  • Demonstrates strong attention to detail, good record keeping, organization, and precision abilities
  • Ability to work under time pressures and flexibility to adjust to sudden work patterns or schedules
  • Must demonstrate time management skills and prioritization
  • Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and with teams
  • Must have good decision-making skills for quarantining out-of-specification product
Physical Requirements
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms, and may be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus
  • Must be able to stand for long periods and work on elevated platforms; may withstand extreme climate changes
  • Must be able to work 12-hour shifts (6 a.m.–6 p.m. or 6 p.m.–6 a.m.), weekends, and overtime as business needs dictate
  • Fully comply with all OSHA and WISHA safety rules and regulations
  • This position requires union membership after 30 days of hire
Working Conditions
  • Generally works in a plant environment, with some duties involving lab work
  • May be exposed to moving mechanical parts and vehicular traffic
  • May be exposed to a wide range of temperatures
  • Noise level is frequently loud
Salary

Starting wage $26.1812 progressing every 1,000 hours up to 3,000 hours ending at $28.7670 as a fully trained Quality Control Assurance Tech.
