We are seeking Fishmeal Technicians for our state-of-the-art fishing trawler equipped with a highly automated factory, Rolls Royce power management system, electric deck equipment, and a Hedinn Fishmeal Plant. Technicians operate the fishmeal processing line, work 14-hour shifts, and report to the Chief Engineer.
Technicians participate in shipyard periods for maintenance, installation, and repairs, with work varying based on projects and deadlines. A work schedule for fishing and shipyard periods is coordinated with the Chief Engineer and must be approved by them.
Duties and Responsibilities- Monitor fishmeal/oil plant operation lines to ensure optimal utilization and product quality.
- Adjust pump and auger speeds to maintain product quality.
- Operate equipment correctly to produce the required quality of fishmeal and fish oil, as directed by the Fishmeal Manager.
- Maintain and operate equipment per manufacturer’s guidelines, including pumps, motors, decanters, dryers, screw presses, evaporators, and electronic control panels.
- Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures, including the Safety Management System.
- Perform moisture analysis tests and report findings.
- Demonstrate knowledge of steam systems.
- Monitor raw material levels in silos to ensure proper flow into the plant.
- Supervise startup and shutdown of machinery to ensure compliance.
- Participate in daily maintenance and perform repairs during shipyard periods.
- Provide production and quality reports as required.
Required
- Basic mechanical skills for maintenance and repair.
- Understanding of fishmeal and oil plant operations.
- Adherence to safety guidelines.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50+ lbs.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Knowledge of fishmeal equipment and production processes is preferred.
- Proficiency with MS Office.
- Basic math skills.
- Effective communication in English.
- Strong attention to detail and troubleshooting skills.
- At least 1 year of experience as a Fishmeal Technician or in a similar role.
- Experience directing and training a crew.
- 2-3 years of machinery operation in an industrial setting.

- Crew share of catch, averaging $7,000 - $9,200 per trip, with trips lasting 12-18 days.
Salary: $14,000 - $18,400 per month
