Job Title: Park Ranger 1
Location: Multiple locations, Washington State
Compensation: $4,320 - $5,812 monthly ($51,840 - $69,744 annually)

OverviewCome join Washington State Parks as a Park Ranger 1 where you're responsible for preserving and enhancing our state parks and natural resources.
This recruitment will be used to fill multiple permanent and career seasonal (return every year) Park Ranger 1 positions located throughout Washington State.
Positions- Beebe Bridge State Park - full time, permanent position in Orondo, WA. Housing is available at a subsidized cost but may not be immediately available. Beebe Bridge State Park (Douglas County) is a scenic 56‑acre riverfront getaway near Chelan with swimming, boating, pickleball, campgrounds and activities.
- Lewis & Clark State Park - 6‑month career seasonal position (April 16 to October 15 annually, starting April 16, 2026) in Winlock, WA. Housing not available. Lewis & Clark State Park (Lewis County) is a 616‑acre camping park in old‑growth forest.
- Rainbow Falls State Park - 8‑month career seasonal position (April 1 to November 30 annually, starting April 1, 2026) in Chehalis, WA. Housing available at a subsidized cost. Rainbow Falls State Park (Lewis County) is a 129‑acre camping park on the Chehalis River.
- Tolmie State Park - 6‑month career seasonal position (April 1 to September 30 annually, starting April 1, 2026) in Olympia, WA. Housing not available. Tolmie State Park (Thurston County) offers beach exploration, hiking, clamming, scubadiving, an underwater park with artificial reef.
- Twanoh State Park - 6‑month career seasonal position (April 16 to October 15 annually, starting April 16, 2026) in Union, WA. Housing not available. Twanoh State Park (Mason County) is a 188‑acre park on Hood Canal with swimming, boating and shoreline.

Duties- Rule & regulation compliance
- Educates visitors on rules, including Discover Pass enforcement.
- Routine maintenance and stewardship
- Supervises and completes lower‑level maintenance projects.
- Assigns and schedules routine grounds and facilities maintenance.
- Ensures cleanliness, sanitation, and compliance with standards.
- Inspects lower‑level projects for compliance.
- Cleans restrooms and other facilities.
- Registration and customer service
- Provides general information, rules, emergency assistance, and area specific information.
- Administrative duties
- Completes new employee hiring paperwork.
- Finishes park Cash Receipt Transmittals.
- Supervises lower‑level staff
- Provides oversight and instruction to staff, work groups, and volunteers.
- Follows agency policies, statewide regulations, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- High school diploma or GED.
- United States citizen or legal to work in the U.S.
- Valid driver’s license (unrestricted, other than corrective lenses).
- Must be 21 years old.
- Two (2) years of college credits, military, law enforcement, natural resource, or recreation field experience.
- Experience performing minor construction and repair work.
- Grounds maintenance experience (cutting grass, weeding, pruning, raking, litter pickup).
- Supervisory experience.
- Ability and willingness to effectively manage emergency situations.
- Adaptability to changing business needs.
- Accurate and timely completion of forms and reports.
- Consistent enforcement of laws, rules, and regulations.
- Educate and influence park users for voluntary compliance.
- Interpret and represent agency policies and direction.
- Maintain tools and organized workspace.
- Make independent decisions to achieve desired results.
- Effective verbal communication.
- Use of Microsoft Office.
- Friendly, positive, approachable demeanor.
