The Renewable Energy Archaeologist makes eligibility determinations for archaeological sites related to renewable energy projects and applies federal Section 106 review processes. The role involves mediating between tribal governments, developers, and archaeologists, developing training courses on cultural resources and archaeological topics, and conducting field reviews for state and federal compliance. This is a project position based in Olympia, Washington, expected to last through June 30, 2027, with flexible Monday-Friday scheduling.
Keyqualifications
- Valid driver's license free from serious traffic violations
- Graduate degree in archaeology/anthropology with 4+ months lab and field experience
- At least 3 years managing complex archaeological projects or completing project reviews for state/federal agencies
- At least 3 years applying National Register of Historic Places criteria
- Expert knowledge of Washington state prehistory and history
- Expertise in archaeological field methods and theory
