Position DescriptionThe General Cafeteria Worker will be working for EdAdvance in a food service program that provides quality meals to students at Region 12 (Shepaug High School). You will be part of a team that provides healthy, compliant lunches to students.
Major Responsibilities- Tasks include preparing food which may involve basic cooking, serving food to students, cleaning kitchen equipment and putting away stock / deliveries.
- Ability to drive and deliver meals to district Elementary Schools with EdAdvance vehicle.
- Follows all sanitation and health codes governing food preparation and personal appearance
- Works with hot ovens, sharp tools, slippery floors, and some heavy lifting
- General knowledge of food and nutrition preferred
- Other duties as may be assigned
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Previous food service or catering experience a plus
- Ability to operate and care for institutional/industrial equipment
- Ability to drive and deliver food
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
- Must be detail oriented and keep accurate records as directed
- Possess good judgment
- Requires working independently and as a team
- Regular and consistent attendance is considered an essential function of this position
- Moves and lifts equipment weighting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to drive EdAdvance vehicle
- Moves throughout the school kitchen to prepare food and perform other duties
- Must be able to push and pull carts
