About the Role At Lincoln Creek Lumber, we believe great stores are built by great people. As Assistant Store Manager, you’ll be a key leader in our day-to-day operations; supporting your team, serving customers, and helping carry forward over 100 years of community trust. You’ll work closely with the Store Manager to drive performance, develop staff, and create a store experience our neighbors can count on.

Leadership & People Development Develop store associates, fostering a culture of growth and accountability.

Set meaningful performance goals with staff and provide consistent, constructive feedback and recognition.

Participate in associate performance reviews; identifying strengths, improvement opportunities, and paths for advancement.

Deliver monthly one-on-one coaching to all associates based on individual customer service performance.

Model professionalism and a customer-first attitude, coaching the team by example.

Store Operations & Merchandising Review store evaluations with the management team to identify opportunity areas and address urgent issues promptly.

Delegate tasks to ensure merchandising, visual standards, and store appearance consistently meet company expectations.

Execute and oversee merchandising updates, partnering with vendors on plan-o-gram coordination and strategy.

Maintain accurate inventory levels; manage daily receiving and transfers in alignment with company best practices, metrics, and deadlines.

Utilize inventory reporting tools to minimize shrinkage and keep stock levels optimized.

Scheduling & Financial Oversight Forecast staffing needs based on customer demand and create effective work schedules.

Monitor payroll to ensure compliance with budgetary guidelines and take corrective action when needed.

Partner with the Store and General Manager before making staffing decisions, including hiring, promotions, and separations.

Sales & Customer Experience Coordinate with the team to drive sales performance and achieve store goals.

Build and maintain strong client relationships and strategic community partnerships.

Develop and implement in-store marketing initiatives including promotions, events, and seasonal merchandising.

Review customer service analysis reports (Mystery Shopper, Customer Engagement Surveys) and collaborate with the team on service improvements.

Proactively resolve customer concerns with urgency and professionalism.

Communication & Team Engagement Communicate store performance metrics through daily huddles, communication boards, and team meetings to educate, engage, and motivate staff.

Enforce all company policies consistently and maintain open communication channels with your team.

Training & Professional Development Identify and coordinate training programs for associates, including new-hire orientation, on-the-job training, and vendor-led sessions.

Pursue ongoing professional growth through self-directed learning, industry events, local business conferences, and Ace Learning.

Safety & Compliance Understand, observe, and role-model all safety procedures — proactively recommending improvements to safety standards.

Conduct regular preventative safety and fire inspections, taking immediate corrective action on any shortcomings.

Implement procedures to maintain a clean, safe, and welcoming store environment.

Additional Responsibilities Perform other duties as assigned to support store and company objectives.

Qualifications:

Outstanding customer service

Willingness to listen to others

High School Diploma or GED required

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred

Project management experience or equivalent coursework preferred

Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in a retail or customer service setting

Proficient computer skills, adept at learning and navigating new programs

Clear written and verbal communication

Ability to motivate and lead associates storewide in an impartial manner

Independently motivated with proven time-management skills

Capable of delegating tasks efficiently

Solid organization skills and attention to detail

Strong analytical and mathematical skills

Valid in-state driver’s license

Acceptable driving record according to company insurance carrier’s standards

Punctual attendance of shifts

Bilingual (Spanish) verbal and written strongly desired

Pride in a job well done

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods

Flexibility to reach and bend while performing job duties

Ability to lift 60 lbs. without assistance
