The Buildings & Grounds Division (B&G) is responsible for the Capitol Campus and Department of Enterprise Services (DES) managed building operations, stewardship, and historic preservation. B&G provides service to over 42 agencies, maintains, operates and preserves the 486-acre state Capitol Campus in Olympia, including more than 28 buildings, 18 public monuments, over 6,000 parking stalls, four state parks and a 260-acre lake.

B&G executes these responsibilities through the following service programs:
Facilities Operations, Grounds Operations, Leadership and Admin, Maintenance & Repairs, Support Services (Custodial).

About the Opportunity:

As an Electrician Lead - High Voltage within our Buildings & Grounds team, you will serve as a fully qualified electrician responsible for the sophisticated electrical infrastructure of our campus.

Your role involves the expert construction, installation, and maintenance of diverse systems, ranging from the medium-voltage distribution network and primary service entry panels to intricate interior wiring and motor controls. Whether you are troubleshooting critical equipment like pumps and fans, managing large-scale system upgrades, or providing vital emergency response, your technical mastery will ensure the safety and reliability of our power circuits and facility instruments.

Some of What You'll Enjoy Doing Includes:

* Perform expert installation, troubleshooting, and repair of complex electrical infrastructure, including switch gear, transformers, and distribution systems, within commercial and government facilities.

* Manage lighting and life-safety systems by maintaining LED fixtures, conduit wiring, and emergency signage to ensure continuous facility safety and functionality.

* Coordinate critical electrical shutdowns and planned outages through preventive and corrective maintenance to minimize operational disruptions.

* Execute the installation, retrofit, and replacement of electrical systems for facility upgrades and tenant improvements by interpreting blueprints and one-line diagrams.

* Manage small capital projects, including the commissioning and functional testing of new equipment to ensure optimal system performance.

* Develop detailed cost estimates for proposed electrical work to support project planning and budgetary oversight.

* Maintain precise documentation of maintenance logs, inspections, and test results in strict accordance with NFPA 70, NFPA 110, and Washington Administrative Code requirements.

* Respond to emergency calls via an on-call rotation while ensuring full compliance with safety regulations, including WISHA, lockout/tagout (LOTO), and confined space procedures.

* Other duties as needed.

Required Qualifications:

* Ability to lift or move fifty (50) lbs.

* Valid driver's license.

* High School graduate or GED.

* Journey-level standing as an Electrician EL-01 as attested by Washington State Labor and Industries OR Two (2) years of experience as a journey-level industrial or commercial electrician.
