The salary for this position is: $4,446.00 - $5,914.00 monthly.
Thurston County Central Services is recruiting for a Facilities Technician I to join our dynamic, energetic, and innovative Facilities Services team. The successful candidate will perform a wide variety of skilled tasks related to the maintenance of county buildings and equipment. Areas of responsibility may include electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning), generators, carpentry, building component systems, locksmithing, and other related work in the maintenance and repair of commercial buildings.
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the following:
* Performing carpentry work for remodeling and installation of fixtures. Reviewing and utilizing blueprints, sketches, and specifications.
* Working with electrical circuitry to repair, troubleshoot, and install 120, 208, 277, and 480-volt circuits.
* Performing routine battery testing and replacement for building automation computers, fire alarm panels, UPS systems, and generators.
* Identifying facilities/equipment problems and recommending solutions.
* Routine and preventive maintenance on building systems (HVAC, lighting, emergency systems, security, alarms, electrical, and electronic locking devices).
* Maintaining detailed logs; entering data into maintenance management information system.
* Assisting contractors and vendors as assigned; may oversee the work of volunteers, inmates, or other workers.
* Selecting and purchasing supplies, recommending tools and equipment, and maintaining proper inventory control and accurate records.
* May perform landscaping duties and repairs to irrigation systems.

Essential Personnel:
This position is considered an essential worker and may be required to work during non-business hours or closures in order to meet operational requirements and needs, such as coming in early and working on snow days, or staying at work during power outages.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
* Work Environment:
* Work is typically performed in different locations around the county and can include high-security areas such as detention facilities and on building rooftops.
* Routinely use a variety of equipment including hand and power tools, ladders, and work in confined areas.
* Regularly lift 75 pounds and are required to bend, stoop, crouch, push, pull, and reach above the shoulders in the performance of duties.
* Long periods of standing may be necessary, and work is performed both indoors and outdoors in all types of weather and temperatures.
* Position is exposed to noisy machinery and alarms, dust, liquid, epoxy chemicals, smoke, noxious odors, fumes, and solvents.
* Schedule:
Monday - Thursday, 6:00a.m.
- 5:00p.m., with an hour lunch break.
* Travel Requirements:
Daily driving to county properties and various vendor locations.
* Customer Interaction:
Daily interactions via phone or in-person with Thurston County staff and vendors.
