On-Call After-Hours Social Service Specialist 1-3 In-Training (SSS3)

Hourly Rate$27.42 - $43.80 (plus possible 10% assignment pay at goal class)
Responsibilities- Respond to emergent and after-hours requests.
- Meet required time frames and complete documentation in the FAMLINK database.
- Gather information to assess present danger and take protective action if danger is identified.
- Conduct 24-hour emergent face-to-face contacts, 72-hour non-emergent face-to-face contacts, and monthly Health and Safety visits.
- Observe and document the living environment, physical condition, and behaviors of children.
- Follow Agency Policy for Photograph Documentation when photographing a child’s physical condition or environment.
- Respond to Protective Custody inquiries and partner with law enforcement when needed.
- Investigate allegations, assess complex family situations, and develop plans to protect children either in their own homes or out-of-home care through the court system.
- Supervise youth after hours when placement efforts are ongoing or when placement is unable to locate a safe, appropriate placement.
- Work collaboratively with other social workers within other units and offices.
- Utilize the Child Health and Education Tracking (CHET) Screens.
- Attend and testify in court.
- A completed Bachelor’s degree in social services, human services, or behavioral sciences.
- OR a completed Bachelor’s degree that includes 30 semester credits or 45 quarter credits in a Social Services discipline. (If unrelated, must obtain required credits within first 18 months.)
- OR four years of paid work experience in caring for children, counseling youth, or educating youth plus 30 semester or 45 quarter credits in a Social Services discipline. (If credits missing, must obtain within first 18 months.)
AND
- Five years of paid social service experience and 30 semester or 45 quarter credits in a Social Services discipline.
- OR a Master’s degree in social services, human services, or behavioral sciences with 30 semester or 45 quarter credits and a completed practicum.
- OR a Bachelor’s degree in social services, human services, or behavioral sciences with 30 semester or 45 quarter credits and one year of paid social service experience.
- OR one year of experience as a Social Service Specialist 1.
AND
- Six years of paid social service experience and 30 semester or 45 quarter credits in a Social Services discipline.
- OR a Master’s degree in social services, human services, behavioral sciences, or a Master’s with 30 semester or 45 quarter credits and one year of paid social service experience.
- OR a Bachelor’s degree in social services, human services, or behavioral sciences with 30 semester or 45 quarter credits and two years of paid social service experience.
- OR one year as a Social Service Specialist 2.
* Paid social service experience must include at least one year assessing risk and safety to children and providing direct family-centered practice services.
Preferred Qualifications- Demonstrated knowledge of applicable laws, rules, and policies on child protective and child welfare services.
- Demonstrated knowledge of addiction, treatment, relapse prevention, and recovery principles, and/or experience working with individuals with substance use disorder.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and build consensus with families, community partners, and professionals around difficult or sensitive topics.
- Experience assessing risk and safety concerning child abuse and neglect or developing safety or service plans with families.
- Ability to organize information to meet FAMLINK documentation requirements.
- Social Service Specialist 3: $32.56 - $43.80 per hour.
- Social Service Specialist 2: $31.02 - $41.69 per hour.
- Social Service Specialist 1: $27.42 - $36.86 per hour.
