Salary Range: $4,960 - $6,665 Monthly
Telework/Hybrid: The position may be performed from anywhere within Washington State with reliable internet. Travel to agencies and testing may be required.
Job Summary: The Correctional Records Supervisor (CRS) leads the Tolling Records Unit, ensuring accurate entry, auditing, and interpretation of tolling activities that determine Scheduled End Dates (SED) for individuals under Department of Corrections (DOC) jurisdiction.
Responsibilities- Manage and supervise correctional records staff, providing direction for operational effectiveness of the Tolling office.
- Direct and supervise lower-level record‑keeping staff.
- Order and request supplies and equipment.
- Plan, assign, and review staff work.
- Track and report monthly metrics for statistical data.
- Conduct staff meetings to evaluate workload and promote teamwork.
- Assess training needs and provide instruction.
- Respond to inquiries regarding records from internal and external entities.
- Evaluate employee performance and prepare performance appraisals.
- Resolve staff issues, recognize employees, and counsel on career development.
- Interpret court decisions, RCWs, and board redeterminations to compute SEDs.
- Train staff on offender databases, public disclosure laws, and criminal history record laws.
- Implement operational adjustments due to changes in law or policy.
- Review and verify supervised individuals’ Scheduled End Dates.
- Provide effective communication and timely request processing.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Three (3) or more years reconciling tolling activities and verifying SEDs for individuals under DOC jurisdiction.
- Five (5) years maintaining or processing records of individuals under DOC jurisdiction in an adult correctional agency.
- College coursework in criminal justice, business, accounting, or related field substitutes up to two (2) years of experience.
- Maintain confidentiality and respect privacy.
- Effective communication with coworkers, the public, and criminal justice agencies.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems in stressful situations.
- Computer literacy for job duties.
- Mathematical skills for complex sentence calculations.
- Knowledge of Washington sentencing laws, DOC supervision types, and applicable DOC policy.
- Two (2) years experience as a direct supervisor or lead.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Washington sentencing laws, DOC supervision types, and DOC policy.
- Knowledge of criminal history document processing.
- Pass a CRS aptitude test with 70% or more accuracy.
Employees may work from a home or offsite location within Washington State using reliable internet. Employees must maintain confidentiality, care for state‑issued equipment, and may need to commute to a DOC facility for onboarding or business needs. A dedicated workspace within a DOC facility is not provided.
