Job Description

Express is hiring for a Bilingual Community Based Advocate at a local non-profit in Olympia, WA. This is an evaluation-permanent opportunity. The schedule is full-time (35 hours per week):
Monday–Thursday 9:00 AM–5:00 PM, Friday 9:00 AM–2:00 PM, with occasional nights and weekends. Compensation starts at $25.00–$25.50 per hour. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, plus the following:
Holiday Pay (90 hours per fiscal year, days chosen by employee);
Vacation Pay (2 weeks per year, accrued per hour worked);
Sick Pay (12 days per year, accrued per hour worked).

• Provide confidential advocacy and support to survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, dating violence, and human trafficking.
• Support survivors in accessing comprehensive resources, including mobile and site-based advocacy, safety planning, shelter/housing, transportation, outreach, childcare, resource & referral, legal advocacy, interpretation/translation, and other services onsite and from partner agencies. Assist with Protection Orders.
• Complete intake paperwork with clients to enroll in services and conduct danger assessments to support safety planning.
• Provide immediate crisis intervention and safety planning to meet basic needs and increase personal safety.
• Educate survivors on available resources and assist enrollment into appropriate services/programs.
• Assist survivors with civil protection orders, including court paperwork and timely Clerk’s Office submissions; provide court accompaniment (virtual or in person) as requested.
• Collaborate with Thurston County Clerk’s Office and participate in DVPO support; maintain a regular presence in court to support survivors.
• Support survivors in accessing internal organization resources and connect clients to appropriate staff for services such as diversion, rapid re-housing, coordinated entry, parenting support, eviction/utility assistance, and more.
• Provide case consultation to organization staff working with survivors and ongoing advocacy for long-term stability (housing, resources, children’s needs, etc.).
• Assist survivors in developing employment skills, financial literacy, and other life skills through one-on-one meetings and group workshops.
• Facilitate domestic violence peer support groups (6 weeks) and collaborate with program leadership to run the group.
• Maintain working relationships with local partners (e.g., Prosecuting Attorney’s Office, Clerk’s Office, Sheriff’s Office) to support survivors’ needs.
• Participate in Coordinated Community Response Team meetings and other applicable community meetings.
• Enroll survivors into the FJC program in the Apricot database and maintain required data, documents, and program records for grant reporting.
• Maintain accurate electronic files and incident documentation, including housing, income verification, HMIS releases, and related records.
• Provide information for semiannual OVW reports and participate in the agency on-call rotation to back up shelter staff (evenings; ~3–4 weeks per year).
• Represent the organization at relevant community meetings and report back to the team on updates and resource availability.

• Bilingual Spanish speaking
• Transportation: insured personal vehicle, willingness to travel locally;
  Washington State Driver’s License with a clean driving record
• Strong written and oral communication skills, including ability to write detailed reports and speak effectively in groups
• Ability to pass a comprehensive background check

• Minimum 1 year of experience working directly with families providing case management/home visitation/advocacy or related work
• Computer literacy; proficiency in Microsoft Office
• Bachelor’s degree in social services or related field (may substitute with equivalent work experience)
• Local work experience; familiarity with Thurston County resources
• Experience working with diverse populations and providing crisis intervention
• Experience working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, stalking, or human trafficking
