About the Position

Lifeguards are responsible for providing supervision and ensuring a safe environment at the swim dock. This role assists the Waterfront Director in the management of waterfront facilities and equipment. Lifeguards sleep in an assigned camper living unit and help in various aspects of camp life with that group, providing support to Unit Counselors when not at the waterfront.

Compensation for this position is $115 - $125 per day, with the starting rate dependent on previous employment at GSWW camps.

Camp Season 2026 will run from June 7th through August 18th, with start and end dates determined by position. Overnight camp staff will divide their summer between Camp Robbins wold (located in Lilliwaup, WA) and Camp St. Albans (located in Allyn, WA). They will begin ans for the first week of training, then transition to Robbins wold for the second week. Staff will work three one-week camper sessions at Robbins wold, take a short break, and then complete three sessions ans.

This position may spend 1-2 weeks during the summer supporting waterfront programming for site rentals at either property.

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise and guard all swimming activities to prevent and manage injuries, providing rescue of participants as needed
  • Ensure the education and enforcement of safety policies and procedures at the swimming dock, including understanding and implementing appropriate response to changes in water conditions or weather conditions affecting the waterfront
  • Evaluate swimming abilities of all participants prior to first activity session
  • Support the Boating and Sailing specialists in delivering programming suitable for the age, ability, and interests of youth 6-17 years old around kayaks, canoes, paddleboards and sailboats
  • Assist in the management and care of the physical facilities and equipment, including daily check of the area and equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good repair, and keeping the area free of hazards and debris
  • Support and participate in the implementation of all camp activities such as meals, all camp games, campfires, etc.
  • Carry out established duties for general camp operations including check-in and check-out, bus supervision, camp cleaning, season opening and closing tasks, and completion of necessary paperwork
