Public Works Waste ReSources is currently hiring for a full-time emergency hire position within the Collections Program. This position is temporary in status but is expected to work full time hours for an indefinite period based on operational needs.

Job Description:

Under general supervision, collect refuse and/or recyclables on a regularly scheduled route; perform minor equipment maintenance and repair, and performs route scheduling.
** About the Position
** Public Works Waste ReSources is seeking a team oriented and customer focused individual to join the Collections Program team. This group is responsible for the collection and disposal of garbage, recycling, and organics.

Under general supervision, the position collects refuse and or recyclables along regularly scheduled routes, performs minor equipment maintenance and repair, and provides direct customer service while interacting with the public. Work is performed outdoors in a variety of weather conditions and requires a strong commitment to safety, teamwork, and reliable service delivery.

** ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
**** The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to:
** 1. Refuse/Recycle Collectors are responsible for the regular, efficient, and safe pick-up of refuse and recyclables on a regularly scheduled or special route; and delivering the collected materials to the appropriate destination.  
2. Each Collector is responsible for ensuring all equipment used is in safe, properly serviced working order by completing a pre-shift equipment check.  
3. Perform special route duties, such as scheduling and completing commercial pick-ups, responding to customer requests for special pick-ups, picking up loose refuse other than in containers, replacing, and/or repairing damaged containers, delivering recycle carts, delivering replacement vehicles to breakdown sites, completing pick-ups where large vehicles cannot, scheduling vehicles for repair, maintain special pick-up records, and set charges for billing.  
4. Fuel, lubricate, and examine trucks prior to each shift; perform minor repair/maintenance or inform Fleet Services Section of more extensive repairs.  
5. Operate hydraulic machinery, such as 10,000 pound winch, container lift, and packer.  
6. Deliver refuse/recyclables to proper destination.  
7. Respond to questions, comments, and/or complaints from customers and the general public.  8. May make repairs to equipment while on route such as large garbage containers; for major repairs, the equipment is returned to City shop.  
9. Answer incoming telephone calls regarding commercial and drop box requests, resolve service questions and concerns, and relay information to route collectors or, if necessary, the Field Lead for resolution.…
