PML Construction is a specialty subcontractor in commercial construction. The Senior Project Accountant is a high-ownership role at the center of our project finance operations, reporting directly to the CFO. This individual carries the full project accounting cycle from day one and is built for an experienced construction accountant who wants consequential work, direct leadership access, and a clear path to grow.

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–4:00 PM, on-site at our Springfield, NE corporate office. Extended hours may be required during monthly billing cycles, close, and year-end.
Revenue & Accounts Receivable:
Own monthly progress billing and receivables across all active projects. Manage lien waivers, preliminary notices, and remittance to general contractors.
Job Cost, WIP & Projections:
Maintain the work-in-process schedule and percentage-of-completion across active jobs. Develop cost-to-complete and margin projections with project managers; analyze over/under billing positions. Maintain percent-complete, backlog, and job-cost data with timely PM input.
Bonding & Surety:
Coordinate project bonds and surety instruments; serve as primary contact with the bonding agent. Support bonding capacity, prequalification submissions, and related financial reporting.
General Accounting, Close & Controls:
Monthly bank reconciliations, independent of cash handling, for CFO review. Maintain fixed-asset and depreciation schedules. Support the CFO with month-end close and financial statement preparation.
Subcontractor & Compliance (support):
Invoice processing, onboarding, and compliance including COIs, lien waivers, and 1099 reporting. Accounts payable processing and vendor compliance management.
Payroll Backup (support):
Trained backup for payroll processing to ensure department continuity.
This role is built to expand. Upon demonstrated performance, a Compliance and Reporting Manager track is available with broadened scope across compliance, reporting, and financial leadership.
Required QualificationsBachelor's in Accounting or Finance. 5+ years with ownership of a full billing or accounting cycle. Strong GAAP, general ledger, and reconciliations. Proficiency in Excel and accounting/ERP systems. Demonstrated passion for implementing process improvements and driving operational efficiencies. Discretion with sensitive data; meets deadlines independently.
Preferred QualificationsConstruction accounting experience (percentage-of-completion, WIP schedules, cost-to-complete). Progress billing (AIA/G702) and subcontractor compliance. Bonding and surety processes, prequalification support. Demonstrated use of AI-related tools to improve accounting workflows. CPA or active candidate; public accounting a plus.
