Overview
Are you an accounting professional who enjoys digging into complex transactions, solving reconciliation issues and finding smarter ways to get the work done? We are looking for a Cash Reconciliation Specialist who can combine strong accounting fundamentals with technology, analytical thinking and process improvement.
In this role, you will help ensure the accuracy, integrity and daily balance of the company’s cash positions and premium revenue activity. You will work extensively with Black Line Transaction Matching
, payment processor data, bank activity and the general ledger to manage and improve automated reconciliation processes.
This is more than a traditional reconciliation role. We are looking for someone who wants to understand why transactions do not match, identify patterns behind recurring exceptions and develop solutions that improve automation without sacrificing accuracy or financial controls.
This position is primarily office-based and involves significant computer use. The typical schedule is Monday through Friday, with approximately 45 to 55 hours per week depending on business needs and peak accounting periods
.
- Manage daily automated transaction matching and reconciliation processes within Black Line
. - Create, test and refine Black Line matching rules to align payment processor activity, bank statements and general ledger entries.
- Perform three-way reconciliations across payment processors, bank activity and general ledger collections.
- Investigate transaction mismatches and exceptions, identify root causes and drive issues through resolution.
- Distinguish between accounting discrepancies, timing differences, data integration issues and matching-rule deficiencies to determine the appropriate corrective action.
- Identify recurring exceptions and opportunities to increase automated matching rates and reduce manual intervention.
- Perform daily cash reconciliations and monitor automated integration streams supporting premium activity.
- Reconcile assigned balance sheet and other general ledger accounts and ensure correcting entries are completed within established deadlines.
- Partner with Accounting, internal business teams, banking partners and payment processors to research and resolve variances.
- Identify bottlenecks and opportunities to convert manual processes into efficient, scalable automated workflows.
- Prepare reports and supporting information for auditors, examiners, rating bureaus and other internal or external stakeholders.
What Makes You Successful
Success in this position goes beyond completing reconciliations. You will understand the full transaction lifecycle and use that knowledge to improve how our processes work.
You will recognize patterns, investigate exceptions and ask the questions necessary to understand what is happening across systems. Rather than repeatedly correcting the same issue, you will look for opportunities to improve matching logic, automate manual work and strengthen processes for the future.
You will also balance independence with collaboration. Much of the work requires focused analysis and problem-solving, but resolving complex issues may require partnering across departments or working directly with external banking and payment processing partners.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.
- Four or more years of relevant professional experience preferred, particularly within insurance, banking, financial services, payment processing or public accounting.
- Hands-on experience with Black Line
, including transaction matching and the ability to create, test and refine matching rules. - Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including complex formulas, analytical tools and pivot tables.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, general ledger activity and account reconciliation.
- Ability to analyze complex financial data streams and understand how transactions move across multiple systems.
- Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify the root cause of reconciliation, system or data issues.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict daily, monthly and reporting deadlines.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work…
