As a Government Consulting Intern, you will support our Associates in research, compliance, auditing, and other consulting tasks in our Government Consulting Department.

YOUR ROLE
  • Technical Knowledge:
    Gain basic technical skills in the applicable program and contract areas of practice. Learn the purpose of Medicare contract work, including examinations and agreed-upon procedures, and how the various sections relate to one another. Gain an understanding of sampling and testing methodology for specific types of Medicare examinations, agreed-upon procedures, and desk/compliance assignments.
  • Quality Execution:
    Perform tasks as directed by the Team Lead or appropriate supervisor in a timely, efficient, and accurate manner. Complete standard working papers and develop working paper documentation skills. Prepare documents in Case Ware or Box, including all appropriate forms and templates, with minimal assistance.
  • Excellent Communication:
    Develop professional and timely written and verbal communication skills. Outline problems and issues to the Team Lead or other supervisor in a way that helps lead to solutions. Inform the applicable supervisor of issues encountered in a prompt manner.
  • Technology & Systems:
    Ability to learn new systems and become proficient in the use of Excel, Word, Case Ware, Box, Smartsheet, and other applicable programs as directed by the Team Lead, CMS, or Prime Contractors.
YOUR SKILLS
  • Knowledge:
    Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Possess a minimum of a 3.0 GPA or higher. Experience in a CPA firm or professional services environment preferred.
  • Skills:

    Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset. Adaptability, curiosity, and a willingness to dive into new challenges. High attention to detail and a commitment to quality work. Training is provided, but this role also requires initiative, curiosity, and a willingness to learn independently.
  • Ability:
    This role is located at our office in Omaha, NE (Regency Parkway & just south of Dodge St), and must be able to work a minimum of 15 hours per week (between the hours of 8am-5pm Monday-Friday) from January-May 2027 with potential for summer continuation.
  • Candidates must pass a background check as part of the hiring process. Performance is evaluated based on the proficiency and effectiveness of task completion, including the quality of work, application of performance, accounting knowledge, and the ability to meet time constraints.
