MyStaff is working with a respected Omaha nonprofit organization to identify a Staff Accountant to join its Finance team. What You’ll Do
- Prepare and post journal entries and maintain accurate general ledger accounts
- Perform account reconciliations and research/resolve discrepancies
- Assist with monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting and close processes
- Support accounting for restricted and unrestricted funds, contributions, program revenue and other nonprofit revenue streams
- Assist with consolidating financial information across multiple entities and programs
- Support the annual audit, including schedules, documentation and communication with external auditors
- Assist with Form 990 and related state filings
- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable and billing activities
- Help strengthen internal controls and identify opportunities to improve accounting processes
- Partner with departments across the organization to support accurate and timely financial information
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
- 2+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Nonprofit accounting experience strongly preferred
- Understanding of GAAP and fund accounting
- Experience with accounting software/financial systems
- Strong Excel skills, including formulas, tables and data analysis
- Excellent attention to detail, organization and follow-through
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet month-end, year-end and audit deadlines
