Access Services Librarian
The Access Services Librarian at the Schmid Law Library is responsible for the circulation desk and collection management, ILS fulfillment and database maintenance, resource sharing, and the delivery of interlibrary loan and document delivery materials. The role works with the Associate Director to set policies and procedures for the circulation desk, supervises the Library Assistant II, and hires, trains, and manages circulation desk workers.
Responsibilities include overseeing the maintenance, shelving, and inventory of the library’s print collection, course reserves, past exams, reservation of study rooms, and maintaining the information on the library’s web page. The librarian collaborates with the Head of Cataloging to update and maintain the database of holdings, items, and circulation records and coordinates the retrieval and distribution of resources to internal and external patrons.

Required Qualifications

- Provide excellent customer service to diverse internal and external stakeholders
- Exercise sound judgment, make reasoned decisions, and provide leadership in a consultative and collaborative environment
- Excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills; highly motivated, forward‑thinking, energetic, and organized
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in library information science or equivalent
- Three years of relevant library experience
- Experience with ALMA
- Experience managing a library circulation desk and managing part‑time workers
