Overview
The Lean Operations Specialist will support short- and mid-term improvement projects across Detego Health and its affiliates. The focus will be on reducing rework, improving cycle times, strengthening controls, and standardizing workflows. This role collaborates with various departments, including Operations, Claims, Eligibility, Finance, Compliance, IT, and external partners, to map current processes, identify root causes, implement improvements, and promote sustainable practices through effective tools, documentation, and governance.
DutiesProject Intake and Scoping
- Collaborate with leaders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to identify improvement opportunities aligned with operational priorities
- Define problem statements, project scope, constraints, stakeholders, and success metrics
- Develop lightweight project plans that include milestones, owners, risks, and dependencies
- Lead current state process mapping, including end-to-end workflows, handoffs, controls, and exceptions
- Use Lean tools to identify waste, variations, bottlenecks, and recurring failure points
- Translate findings into clear future state recommendations tailored to the business needs
- Convert operational needs into clear requirements, decision points, and process rules
- Design practical improvements such as intake forms, checklists, workflows, templates, and standard work
- Collaborating with IT and the Project Management Office (PMO) on implementation, planning and validation
- Facilitate working sessions, stakeholder alignment, and rollout planning
- Create training materials and communications to support adoption
- Assist leaders in reinforcing new practices through established routines and follow-ups
- Define Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure output quality, turnaround time, backlog health, and exception rates
- Develop lightweight dashboards, trackers, and control plans
- Monitor results post-launch and coordinate updates as processes stabilize
- Create and update process maps and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to reflect process changes
- Ensure documentation is user-friendly, consistent, and adheres to Detego workflow mapping standards
- Collaborate with process owners to maintain accuracy and ownership of documentation
- Support change management efforts to ensure the adoption of new processes and tools
- Teach, coach, and mentor colleagues in Lean and Continuous Improvement principles, building organizational capability through hands‑on training, facilitation, and knowledge sharing
- Perform other duties as required
- Experience in healthcare, insurance, and/or TPA operations (required)
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Operations, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Proven ability to map workflows, identify root causes, and apply structured problem‑solving techniques
- Strong skills in Excel (data cleaning, pivots, reconciliation, basic analysis)
- Comfortable facilitating working sessions and communicating with cross‑functional partners
- Excellent written communication skills with attention to detail and audit readiness
- Strong project management skills, including the ability to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines in a regulated environment
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Yellow Belt or higher)
- Change management experience or certification (Prosci is a plus)
- Knowledge of claims, eligibility, billing, stop loss, and vendor administration workflows
- Experience with system changes, guided workflows, intake tooling, or automation
- Familiarity with process controls in regulated environments (PHI, HIPAA, SOC style control thinking)
- Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams
- SharePoint (document libraries, permissions, structured repositories)
- Visio or similar process mapping tools
- Salesforce, operational reporting environments, and file‑based workflows (SFTP)
- Claims and eligibility platforms (TPA systems)

Pay: $65,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
