Job Summary: This role is responsible for managing the bid process, partnering with pricing teams, and performing analysis on both incumbent and new business opportunities. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working cross‑functionally, handling data to support strategic pricing decisions, and driving customer retention and growth with the support of the pricing supervisor.
Responsibilities- Coordinate the full lifecycle of customer bids & RFP/RFQ responses, ensuring timely and accurate submissions.
- Initiate collaboration for internal pricing, sales, and operations teams to develop competitive pricing solutions for both new and existing customers.
- Analyze incumbent business performance and identify profitability trends using internal and external tools; suggest bid direction based on collaborative pricing from all divisions.
- Prepare evaluation for new business opportunities through cost modeling, competitor benchmarking, and margin analysis to key players.
- Develop customer‑specific pricing strategies with data‑driven insights and historical performance reviews for pricing leadership.
- Use pricing databases, bid templates, and documentation to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
- Assist supervisory personnel with tracking and reporting bid outcomes and pricing performance.
- Act as the primary liaison between the Account Executives and internal divisions to ensure pricing reflects freight characteristics, customer needs, market imbalances, and operating ratios.
- Complete additional rate‑related projects, analysis, and other duties as assigned by supervisory personnel.
- Maintain timely and regular attendance according to the scheduled shift.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Strong mathematical skills.
- Ability to operate a computer terminal and/or personal computer.
- Intermediate MS Excel skills.
- Knowledge of DOT and ICC requirements, usually gained through practical experience.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to perform and organize several projects simultaneously.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, or equivalent experience preferred.
- One to two years of transportation rate experience preferred.
- One to two years of P.C. computer experience preferred, with an emphasis on Excel.
- Zero to six months of customer service experience preferred.
• Seeing and hearing:
Read documents, view computer screens, answer phones, communicate in person.
• Standing and walking: 75%–100% of the work time.
• Climbing, stooping, squatting, kneeling: 0%–24% of the work time.
• Dexterity:
Use phone, type, and write: 0%–24% of the work time.
• Lift in excess of 10 pounds: 75%–100% of the work time.
