Job Summary
Boyd Jones is seeking a Project Engineer who is a proactive, independent worker capable of precise and accurate work. This position is responsible for assisting the Project Manager and Superintendent in all aspects of the day‑to‑day management, supervision and coordination of a construction project.
EssentialJob Responsibilities
- Read, understand and interpret architectural drawings and specifications related to construction projects.
- Coordinate development and processing of project documents (RFIs, submittals, drawings, change orders, ASIs, addendums, etc.) and monitor timely turnaround of these items.
- Use Total Station equipment for survey control and layout.
- Produce material takeoffs.
- Provide proper document management for all materials related to project meetings, submittals, RFIs and change orders.
- Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent in monitoring and updating construction schedules.
- Conduct regular and frequent jobsite visits.
- Assemble O&M manuals.
- Assist leadership in performing job hazard analyses, promote job site safety, encourage safe work practices and rectify job site hazards immediately.
- Perform other duties as required and assigned.
- Identify problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Effective written and oral communication skills to build and maintain relationships with clients and stakeholders.
- Strong organizational and multi‑tasking skills.
- Computer proficiency using MS Office suite and CPM scheduling software.
- Ability to travel to assigned job sites as required.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a project engineer in commercial construction.
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related field.
- Equivalent education and experience will be considered.
- At the office, works in a general office environment with the use of computer, printer, telephone, copier, fax, and calculator. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.
- At the job site, works on building and/or construction sites and may work in dirty, dusty, muddy or noisy conditions. May also work in cramped spaces or lding sites may be hazardous with high noise levels; use of power tools requires personal protective equipment, including hard hats, eye protection, hearing protection, gloves and safety shoes.
