The Outside Plant (OSP) Engineering Technician III provides project design assistance, field staking, and construction supervision of telecommunications outside plant construction projects. This role typically works under minimal supervision and may supervise other OSP Engineering Technicians.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES- Prepares construction drawings, including electronically drawn staking sheets (Visio) and maps (AutoCAD/GIS)
- Works with contractors to determine the needs of the project, including ped staking, fiber placement routes, and bore locations
- Prepares construction units and progress reports for both internal and external stakeholders
- Researches and acquires private easements
- Collects field data utilizing GPS units and other collection tools
- Provides supervision to other OSP Engineering Technicians, as needed
- Performs on‑site inspection and supervision of the outside plant construction to ensure compliance with the plans and specifications
- Records as‑built records for the project
- Performs aerial fielding and prepares for analysis, as needed
- Updates construction drawings with as‑built data
- Completes as‑built mapping using ArcGIS or AutoCAD, as needed
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Associate degree in Telecommunications, Drafting, Construction Management or related field, preferred
- Five years of experience in the utility construction industry
- Thorough knowledge of aerial design and construction practices and procedures of fiber facilities, preferred
- Experience with pole loading analysis software such as O‑Calc, preferred
- Comprehensive computer skills (Microsoft Office, Visio, and AutoCAD experience preferred)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to excel working both independently and as a part of a team
- The ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
- Overnight and/or extended travel required
- The ability to work overtime during the construction season
- Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable
