Job SummaryThe Omaha, NE office is seeking a qualified, organized, detail‑oriented, self‑motivated, and observant individual to serve as a Seasonal Construction Observer
. This opportunity is for an energetic field representative familiar with public infrastructure projects. The position is responsible for accurate monitoring and documenting of construction projects and for assuring that the project has been constructed in accordance with project plans and specifications.
- Accurately monitor and document construction activities on public infrastructure projects.
- Ensure that construction is carried out in accordance with project plans and specifications.
- Relate plan and specification requirements to contractors.
- Effectively communicate with members of the project team.
- Collaborate with contractors, clients, and coworkers.
- Use basic computer skills to maintain records (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, Adobe, or Bluebeam).
- Physically maneuver around construction sites, including accessing stabilized excavations and trenches.
- Lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Work overtime, including Saturdays, as needed.
- Construction, Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or Surveying experience.
- Ability to interpret civil engineering plans and specifications with attention to detail.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills to relay plan and specification requirements to contractors.
- Well‑developed problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to collaborate with contractors, clients and coworkers.
- Proven organizational skills.
- Capability to work well with a variety of character types and backgrounds.
- Basic computer skills utilizing Microsoft Office Outlook, Word and Excel, Adobe or Bluebeam software.
- Physical ability to maneuver around construction sites (accessing stabilized excavations and trenches, structures and other disturbed areas).
- Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds of weight.
- Availability to work overtime including Saturdays as needed.
- A dependable personal vehicle to access project sites.
- Valid driver’s license with a minimum state required liability insurance and clean driving record.
