* Conduct regular jobsite safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments across multiple construction and data center sites.

* Identify safety risks and recommend corrective and preventive actions, while tracking follow-through to ensure timely resolution.

* Lead incident investigations, perform root cause analysis, and prepare detailed incident and near-miss reports.

* Support the development, maintenance, and continuous improvement of company safety programs and initiatives.

* Deliver safety training sessions and toolbox talks to field teams, reinforcing safe work practices and regulatory requirements.

* Coach and mentor field crews on safe work methods for civil/site, utilities, grading, and vertical construction activities.

* Maintain accurate safety documentation, logs, and compliance records in accordance with company and regulatory standards.

* Partner closely with project managers, superintendents, and subcontractors to drive accountability and consistent adherence to safety expectations.

* Inspect equipment, vehicles, and job sites to verify safe working conditions and proper use of protective systems.

* Accompany personnel through post-incident protocols, including coordinating required drug testing when applicable.

* Act as a visible safety presence in the field, reinforcing a proactive, prevention-focused safety culture on every site.

Essential Skills

* At least 3 years of construction safety experience, with hands-on involvement in field or site environments.

* OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification required.

* Ability to obtain the Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) certification within the first few months of employment.

* Strong understanding of site work risks, including excavation, utilities, grading, slip and fall hazards, and heavy equipment operations.

* Experience with construction safety in civil/site and large-scale project environments.

* Demonstrated ability to influence, coach, and build strong working relationships with field crews and project teams.

* Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage documentation, reporting, and multiple site priorities.

* Solid reporting and communication skills for preparing clear, accurate safety reports and documentation.

* Working knowledge of OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and related safety regulations and standards.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

* Experience in field or site work environments such as grading, utilities, civil/site development, or large-scale construction projects is preferred.

* Exposure to large commercial, infrastructure, or data center projects is a plus but not required.

* Familiarity with construction safety practices for both vertical and horizontal construction.

* Ability to travel frequently between multiple project sites within a local region.

* Proactive, coaching-oriented approach to safety, with a focus on building a strong safety culture.

* Attention to detail and follow-through in tracking corrective actions and safety program improvements.

Work Environment

This role is field-based and requires regular travel between multiple active construction and data center sites in the Omaha and Council Bluffs area. The Construction Safety Specialist will spend most of the time on job sites, working closely with field teams in dynamic, fast-paced construction environments that include civil/site work, utilities, grading, and large-scale vertical construction.
