OMNI Engineering, a CRH company, started its business in 1985 in Omaha, Nebraska. OMNI is involved in heavy highway construction as well as private and commercial site construction. Its primary business involves the manufacture and placement of asphalt for roads, city streets and parking lots. Currently, OMNI Engineering employs around 200 employees and remains a competitive force in the Omaha market.

Position Overview

The Asphalt Paving Foreman, responsible for the supervision of their Paving and Construction Crew as well as performing various duties on construction and/or paving projects. The Foreman handles personnel management onsite and makes decisions pertaining to production daily.

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)

* Ensure a safe work environment in compliance with all OSHA/MSHA regulations, safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task. Will report any problems to management.

* Supervise and coordinate activities of the paving crew including training, planning, assigning and directing work; employee performance and discipline as well as addressing complaints and resolving problems.

* Communicate effectively with project managers, inspectors, customers and team members.

* Works with the Quality Control Department to ensure products meet production and project specifications.

* Conducts weekly safety meetings and other employee correspondence as required.

* Performs and documents safety, production and compliance reporting.

* Reviews and submits payroll as well as maintains related documentation.

* Assist construction/paving crew with various duties such as; shoveling and raking, running wheelbarrow, equipment operations, safely backing/dumping trucks into paver.

* May be required to use pressure washer and/or sandblasting equipment.

* Identify, understand, and report safety hazards, poor behavior, and unsafe actions immediately.

* Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education/Experience

* High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Experience in leading a hot mix asphalt crew or other related industry experience preferred.

Work Requirements

* Must be 18 years in age or older.

* Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.

* Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.

* Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.

* Report to work dressed appropriately and ready to begin work at the designated start time.

* Regular and consistent attendance is required and must be willing to work nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.

* Individuals are required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in designated operations and production areas as stated by OSHA and/or MSHA, Company Policy and specific Job Site Requirements.

* Ability to obtain OSHA 30 certification.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

* Knowledge of asphalt types, classifications and materials.

* Knowledge of paving techniques, best practices, and paving equipment.

* Ability to operate equipment safely and efficiently under a variety of working conditions.

* Ability to recognize hazardous conditions.

* Ability to work collaboratively with a team in a fast-paced and complex environment, as well as being able to work independently with attention to detail.

* Ability to follow oral and written instructions from supervisors to complete assigned tasks.

* Demonstrated ability to train, motive and lead employees.

* Willingness and ability to work in and adapt to changes in circumstances, tasks, customer needs and other conditions that may affect their daily responsibilities.

* Ability to cope well in stressful environments and communicate professionally.

* Demonstrate a strong dedication to meeting the needs and expectations of our internal and external customers.
