Transportation Construction Inspector (Civil / Highway Construction)
Location: Omaha, NE (90% Field / 10% Office)
Salary: $25–$35/hour + Bonus
Employment Type: Full-Time
- Monday–Friday with potential 10-hour construction shifts
- Overtime and occasional weekend work depending on project schedules
HGM Associates Inc. is seeking a Transportation Construction Inspector / Civil Construction Inspector to support highway, roadway, and transportation infrastructure construction projects in the Omaha area.
The Transportation Construction Inspector performs field inspection and construction observation on roadway, bridge, and civil infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with project plans, specifications, and DOT requirements.
This position works closely with construction managers, engineers, and contractors on active transportation construction projects.

- Perform transportation construction inspection on roadway, bridge, and civil infrastructure projects
- Conduct field observation of contractor work to verify compliance with plans, specifications, and DOT standards
- Perform or coordinate construction materials testing, including concrete testing
- Communicate with project managers, contractors, and engineering teams
- Inspect concrete, asphalt, bridge construction, utilities, and traffic control
- Document daily construction progress and inspection activities
- Maintain inspection reports and project documentation
Required:
- ACI Field Concrete Certification
- Valid driver’s license
- 1+ years of transportation or civil construction inspection experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with roadway construction, highway construction inspection, or civil infrastructure projects
- Ability to read construction plans and specifications
Preferred:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management
- Nebraska DOT Technician Certifications (asphalt, concrete, earthwork)
- Experience with Federal Aid highway construction projects
- Experience interpreting construction schedules
