Surveyor​/GPS Technician

Overview

Construction Surveyor/GPS Technician is needed. Heimes Corporation is seeking qualified personnel to perform construction surveys, GPS layout, staking, and drone surveying. The role involves working closely with project managers and field crews on a variety of civil construction projects. This is a full-time position based in Omaha, Nebraska.

Heimes Corporation provides a wide range of services including excavating, underground utilities, recycled concrete, plumbing, directional drilling, fiber splicing, underground storage tanks, wrecking, transportation, and hazardous materials cleaning/hauling (ESI).

Experience with CAD software, Trimble Business Center, and an understanding of civil engineering plans and construction layout is beneficial but not required. Reading and understanding basic civil construction plans is necessary. A degree in Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field is preferred. This is a new position within our growing GPS/Drone department; you will report to the GPS Manager who has over 20 years of experience.

• Construction staking on jobsites
• Verify elevations and reference points on jobsites
• Topographic surveys
• Communicate directly with job foreman/superintendents and the GPS Manager
• Burning chips
• Setting up bases
• Basic GPS troubleshooting and calibration on equipment
• Basic CAD work with Trimble Business Center
• Taking survey data and performing calculations

• Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and abide by DOT regulations
• Zero tolerance policy for cell phone use while behind the wheel
• Must have a valid driver''s license with no suspensions in the past 3+ years
• Clean background and ability to pass an extensive background check
• Ability to lift 50 lbs or more
• Work is 90% outdoors and 10% indoors; able to work in all weather conditions
• We utilize the E-Verify system for employment eligibility
• Applicant must speak and understand English
• Pay varies with previous experience
